SUUS develops logistics in Szczecin
Rohlig SUUS Logistics is opening a new logistics center in Szczecin, combining the functions of a warehouse and a transshipment terminal. In the new facility, the operator is consolidating operations from two existing locations, increasing their efficiency. SUUS provides extensive logistics support in the region, including warehousing and value-added services, domestic distribution, daily shipments to Scandinavia, and customs clearance. The company plans to further expand the branch, including implementing the AutoStore system.
SUUS’s new logistics hub in Szczecin, with an area of approximately 15,500 m², combines the functions of a warehouse (12,000 m²) and a cross-dock terminal (nearly 3,000 m²). The company has consolidated operations previously conducted in two locations, increasing its total operational space and process efficiency. The new facility is equipped with 22 transshipment docks and a 40-meter external ramp, offering approximately 13,000 pallet spaces. The hub is located in the Kostrzyn-Słubice Special Economic Zone (KSSSE), at 5 Cynkowa Street, adjacent to the S3 and A6 routes, enabling efficient service to the domestic market, Scandinavia, and Western Europe, as well as transport to and from seaports in the region. Operations at the new facility will begin in the second half of May of this year.
“Western Pomerania is a key point on the European supply chain map, connecting Poland with Scandinavia, but also with Western European markets, including Germany and the Netherlands. Furthermore, consistent infrastructure development, including the expansion of the container port in Świnoujście, strengthens the region’s position in global business.” This potential is recognized by local entrepreneurs, who are increasingly operating in international markets, and by foreign investors locating production and distribution centers here. The demand for comprehensive logistics is growing, which is why we are consistently expanding our operations in the region,” says Piotr Zborowski, member of the management board of Rohlig SUUS Logistics.
The largest Polish logistics operator has been present in Szczecin for over 15 years.
Comprehensive business services and automation
At its Szczecin branch, SUUS provides solutions tailored to the needs of companies in various industries, including rack and block storage, customs clearance at a recognized location, consolidation and deconsolidation of sea containers, and a range of value-added services such as co-packing, labeling, display creation, and promotional kits. The operator also offers full truckload and groupage road transport on domestic and international routes, including daily groupage connections to Sweden and Norway. Furthermore, the branch provides last-mile pallet distribution along with additional services, such as the delivery and assembly of consumer electronics, household appliances, and furniture.
“Our new logistics hub in Szczecin means even greater customer service efficiency. We focus on providing solutions that meet the growing and diverse needs of businesses in the region. That’s why we’re already planning further investments, including the implementation of the AutoStore robotic warehousing system later this year. We will also continue to develop customs services and prepare the facility for certification for food and pet food handling,” emphasizes Łukasz Szymański, Branch Director of Rohlig SUUS Logistics in Szczecin. “With this new investment, we are also strengthening our presence in the local labor market. As operations expand, we plan to increase employment,” he adds.
A Modern and Sustainable Workplace
The branch features a modern and welcoming 1,200 m² office space, designed in accordance with the Office of the Future concept, ensuring comfortable working conditions. The operator has also taken care of drivers – a dedicated rest area is available on-site.
The building is currently undergoing BREEAM certification at the Excellent level. Energy efficiency features include a 50 kWp photovoltaic installation, an intelligent utility management system, and skylights covering 12.5% of the roof area in the warehouse and cross-dock areas. The development also features flower meadows and electric vehicle charging stations.
